 Advanced Computer Engineer

$62.50+ per hour (DOE) 

Here's what you'd do:  

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Computer Engineer to join our team. 
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building computer systems, running critical item tests, and benchmarking computers using open-source tools. 
  • The successful candidate will be able to work with minimal direction, drive tasks to closure, and contribute to evaluating high-performance computing systems.
  • Build/acquire and test computer systems to meet specific performance and functionality requirements.
  • Develop and execute test procedures.
  • Benchmark and optimize computer systems using open-source tools, such as PassMark and Geekbench.
  • Troubleshoot and debug computer systems to identify and resolve performance issues.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of computer systems, including design specifications, test results, and performance data.
  • Performs software requirements analysis, participates in research, designs, develops and tests software and tools, including development of new work products or enhancing existing applications, systems, or embedded products.
  • Codes, tests, integrates, and documents software solutions.
  • Applies principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to the development of complex software and architectures.
  • Researches and analyzes data, such as customer design proposals, market trends, state of technology and industry, specifications, and manuals to determine the feasibility of design or application.
  • Participates in internal review of software components and systems.
  • Receives little instruction on day-to-day work.
  • More often responsible for defining the scope, schedule, and expectations for the work they execute or lead.
  • Independently determines approach to solutions.
  • Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
  • Contributes and is accountable for the completion of major programs and projects.
  • Responsible for the resolution of significant and diverse problems and issues of broad scope and complexity.
  • May provide leadership and/or direction to lower-level employees and teams.
  • Failure to accomplish results or errors may cause significant project delays or require the substantial allocation of additional resources.
  • Collaborates with senior management and leadership within engineering and sometimes across the company.
  • Frequently works with organizations outside of engineering or with external customers.
  • Builds stable working relationships internally.
  • Networks with senior internal and external personnel.
 
Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering or Science or Engineering or Mathematics with 5 years of experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in computer engineering, with a focus on building/testing components for computer systems
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with benchmarking tools, including PassMark and Geekbench
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in computer hardware and software interactions
  • Minimum 5 years of scripting and Linux experience.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree with 3 years of experience
  • Experience with Linux operating systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and its applications
  • Knowledge of scripting languages, such as Python or Bash
  • Familiarity with industry-standard protocols and interfaces, such as PCIe, USB, and NVMe
  • Experience in troubleshooting system, hardware, and FW issues.
  • Experience with Environmental Qualification Testing
  • A seasoned, experienced professional with a highly proficient understanding of software engineering concepts, principles, and theories, and an expert at applying technical standards and methodologies to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways.
  • Capable of working on problems of diverse scope requiring extensive analysis of data and evaluation of a multitude of factors.
  • Demonstrates highly proficient judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Highly proficient knowledge of the software development process as well as software engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
  • Highly proficient knowledge of other related engineering and support disciplines.
  • Detailed and highly proficient knowledge of technology trends and champions new ideas, and product and process improvements.
  • Highly proficient knowledge of software tools supporting Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), version control, defect reporting, and scripting.
  • Ability to be creative, innovative, and responsible, and able to master highly proficient decision-making skills.
  • Highly proficient ability to handle significant responsibility, leadership, and accountability while executing very complex assignments.
  • Shows initiative on assignments and professionally executes projects with very little direction, or can provide direction and leadership to technical teams.
  • Exercises independent judgment and sometimes defines new procedures and practices to improve team and company performance.
  • Advocate and champion for applying company policies and procedures to resolve very complex issues.
  • Highly proficient ability to recognizing and clearly reporting relevant information.

Additional Information :

  • Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen.
