Description

General Manager - Toronto

The General Manager oversees all operations and manufacturing functions. This includes direct leadership of manufacturing, engineering, quality, facilities, purchasing, customer service, and production control.
The GM is responsible for developing and executing manufacturing strategies that meet or exceed performance goals related to production output, cost, quality, and on-time delivery. This is a highly visible, outward-facing role involving regular interaction with customers and collaboration with other sites across North America and Asia Pacific. A wide degree of creativity, autonomy, and strategic judgment is expected.

Duties & Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all manufacturing operations for the Division.
  • Upgrade the manufacturing function through the implementation of “world-class” processes, systems, and strategies.
  • Establish, monitor, and continuously improve key performance metrics including productivity, quality, cost, and on-time delivery.
  • Formulate manufacturing and sourcing strategies; lead capital planning and project execution to completion.
Financial & Performance Management
  • Own the Division's budget, cost controls, and production efficiencies.
  • Create reporting and analyze production results to guide execution and strategic direction.
  • Ensure continuous productivity improvement, measured by output per material, overhead, and labor input.
Team Leadership
  • Build and develop a high-performance, results-oriented team.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to leaders and staff across multiple departments.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, empowerment, and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
  • Drive measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, cycle time, and delivery performance.
  • Identify areas for operational enhancement and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives that require new methods, systems, or processes.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and management abilities.
  • Ability to quickly assess operations, identify core competencies, and build a manufacturing strategy aligned to them.
  • Strong asset-utilization skills to maximize return on equipment and facility investments.
  • Proven ability to develop self-sufficient teams that deliver best-in-class customer service (quality, OTD, cycle time, accuracy).
  • Strong analytical and advanced mathematical skills, applicable to financial, engineering, and production data.
  • Effective communication across phone, meetings, presentations, and cross-functional interactions.
  • Ability to negotiate, persuade, influence, and present information to diverse groups.
 
Job Requirements

 
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of General Manager or senior leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success in driving organizational change and adapting operations to evolving business conditions.
  • Strong business and technical acumen.
  • Experience in Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufacturing or related high-technology industries preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
