Acara Solutions is seeking highly qualified candidates to work onsite with our client in Brampton, ON. Interested?

Here's what you'd do:  

  • Responsible for the utilization and balancing of all resources on shift to ensure efficient shift productivity while maintaining full adherence to safety and quality. 
  • Must effectively communicate with shipping, maintenance, quality, and both the fabrication and packing teams on a regular basis. 
  • Responsible for the development and growth of shift employees, involving areas of behavior, communication, productivity, and career progression.
  • Lead by example, following client PROUD values.
  • Lead, motivate, and inspire the team to meet or exceed performance targets.
  • Identify skill gaps and work with employees to bring them to expected performance levels, hold employees accountable, and help them develop.
  • Create a positive work culture that promotes collaboration, respect, and team member engagement.
  • Drive team morale through clear communication of expectations.
  • Encourage open communication and create a safe space for team members to voice concerns or share ideas.
  • Review and analyze daily requirements and ensure plans are communicated and executed.
  • Work closely and continuously while in constant communication with all departments to resolve any issues and discrepancies.
  • Participate in accident/incident investigation processes & complete corrective actions.
  • Set clear expectations and provide regular updates on progress.
  • Monitor daily operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for addressing performance issues promptly and constructively, seeking manager and Human Resources advice as necessary to manage escalated concerns.
  • Participate and lead regular performance evaluations and coaching opportunities as they arise.
  • Responsible for ensuring the workforce for the current shift & next shift is balanced and fully staffed by managing call-ins, requesting support from other departments, and calling the temporary workforce as needed.
  • Conduct daily verifications of the attendance system and manage team member timesheet approvals in Dayforce.
  • Address team member concerns and contact the Manager and Human Resources for guidance and support.
  • Hold Packing/Fabrication Leads accountable for daily performance.
  • Responsible for setting up the next shift for success by ensuring smooth continuation of production through cleanliness, Work in Progress (WIP) adherence, material preparation, and communication.
  • Monitor fabrication and packing production throughout each shift to ensure Leads have the necessary support and tools available for a successful change.
  • Oversee the Fabrication and Packing Leads to verify they are following the required packing instructions
  • Support compliance with all Quality management policies and procedures, and when needed, contact the Quality team for support on appearance or dimensional concerns.
  • Participate in Non-Conformance Report (NCR) root cause investigations when needed
  • Review machine status with the previous supervisor and discuss any issues/downtime.
  • Ensure work orders are entered for all equipment issues
  • Conduct shift handovers at the beginning and end of every shift. 
  • Review Work in Progress (WIP), manpower utilization, priority orders, Non-Conformance Report (NCR), etc., so the following supervisor is set up for success.
  • Promote continuous cross-training and process improvement within the team.
  • Check to ensure first-offs are being conducted in fabrication.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality & safety-related policies, procedures, and system requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree 
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous leading experience in a manufacturing environment with proven effectiveness.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Field
  • Conventional Fabrication and Machining experience 
  • Health and Safety Certification.
  • Microsoft Office proficient, especially Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Familiarity with software such as EPICS.
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and people.
  • Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles.
  • A clear and solid understanding of policies, procedures, and Core Values.
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, and an ability to think outside-the-box.
  • Proven ability to deliver on commitments.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Must have good team building and motivational skills.
  • Good command of English, written and oral.
  • Understanding of measurements, tolerances, basic geometry, and numeracy comprehension.
  • The ability to read blueprints.
