Acara Solutions is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer for our client in Texas!
This role is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting control systems and automation solutions within a manufacturing environment.
We are seeking qualified candidates with:
- Experience in industrial automation or controls engineering
- Proficiency with PLC programming
- A hands-on, proactive, and customer-focused mindset
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage multiple projects
Here's what you'll do:
Control System Design & Development
- Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Develop and modify HMI/SCADA applications to enhance operator interface and system visibility.
- Create/modify electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
- Specify and size control components, including motors, solar panels, sensors, actuators, VFDs, relays, and safety devices.
Project Execution
- Lead automation and controls portions of new product introduction, existing products upgrades, cost-out initiatives, and capital improvement projects, from concept through commissioning.
- Collaborate with mechanical and process engineers to ensure integrated system performance.
- Coordinate with external integrators, vendors, and panel shops during system build and installation.
- Develop and maintain project documentation including functional specifications, I/O lists, and acceptance test procedures.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Provide second-level technical support for production equipment issues.
- Diagnose control system failures, electrical faults, and communication/networking problems.
- Implement solutions to reduce downtime and prevent recurring issues.
- Ensure proper backup/restore procedures for PLC, HMI, and drive programs.
Process Optimization
- Analyze production data to identify opportunities for automation improvements.
- Implement control strategies that enhance throughput, reduce scrap, and improve quality.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects.
Safety & Compliance
- Develop and maintain machine safety systems (e.g., safety PLCs, light curtains, interlocks).
- Ensure control designs comply with NFPA, NEC, ISO, and relevant industry standards.
- Participate in risk assessments and hazard analysis reviews.
Position Type: Direct Placement
Compensation: Up to $124K/yr. **Based on experience
Schedule: M-F 1st shift **100% Onsite
