Description
Acara Solutions is seeking a Controller to join our client in Lockport, NY.
Type: Direct Hire, 100% onsite
Salary: Up to $140K plus bonus, ESOP participation, medical/dental benefits, and a 401(k) plan with employer contribution.
- Financial Close & Reporting - Lead monthly/annual close, prepare financial statements, reconcile accounts, manage accruals and consistent accounting practices.
- Revenue & Cost Accounting - Oversee revenue recognition, billing accuracy, job costing, and GAAP compliance.
- Controls & Process Improvement - Maintain internal controls, improve documentation, and optimize processes/systems.
- Cash & Treasury - Manage cash flow, banking activity, payments, lender reporting, and working capital.
- Budgeting & Reporting - Support budgeting, forecasting, cash projections, and performance analysis.
- Tax, Audit & Compliance - Coordinate tax filings, audits, payroll/sales tax compliance, and regulatory reporting.
- Leadership & Systems - Lead the accounting team and support financial systems/data integrity improvements.
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Prior experience as a Controller
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Experience in services-based or transaction-intensive businesses
- Proven ability to manage close, controls, and audits
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- CPA or MBA
- Experience in privately held or growing companies
- Exposure to multi-entity accounting environments
