Acara Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior EDM Machinist to join our client on a Full Time Direct Hire opportunity located in San Jose 95131.

  • Payrate:  $55 - $65 per hour (OT available)
  • Shift:   9x80 work schedule with flexible start times

Position Overview
Seeking a Senior EDM Machinist with 10+ years of experience in Wire EDM, capable of producing complex, high-precision components with tight tolerances. Requires strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, and a focus on quality and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, program, and operate Wire EDM machines to spec
  • Interpret drawings, GD&T, and CAD models
  • Optimize machining parameters for accuracy and efficiency
  • Perform complex setups and multi-axis operations
  • Inspect parts using precision tools (CMM, micrometers, etc.)
  • Verify tolerances (±0.0001") and maintain quality records
  • Improve machining processes, tooling, and fixtures
  • Develop EDM processes for new and prototype work
  • Support training of junior machinists
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
 
Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of Wire EDM machining experience
  • Advanced knowledge of EDM programming software (Esprit, Mastercam, Sodick, Mitsubishi, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy and machining characteristics of various alloys
  • Proficient in mathematical calculations and GD&T
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality output under tight timelines

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Experience with CNC milling or turning in addition to EDM
  • Background in aerospace, medical device, mold making, or high-precision manufacturing
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM modeling and toolpath generation
