Description

Seeking a Space Domain Awareness Engineer where you will be working as part of a team developing state-of-the-art algorithms and software capabilities to enhance the US Space Force's capabilities related to Space Domain Awareness. As a member of the program team, the successful candidate will research, develop, and implement advanced concepts and algorithms. The successful candidate will be under the direction of a Principal Engineer or Investigator but is also expected to be able to work independently and/or lead small groups of engineers focused on a specific task. The successful candidate will also be responsible to support proposal initiatives or further business. 

Special Requirements:
  • U.S. citizenship is required for employment.
  • Continued employment will require that the successful candidate obtain and continuously maintain a US Department of Defense security clearance.
  • · Ability to support occasional travel to customer sites for technical meetings and demonstrations (approx. 10% travel)

Salary Description
        $95,000 - $160,000

 
Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering
  • 10 years of experience working in a relevant, research, development or engineering position.
  • 5 years experience with modelling, simulation, and analysis of complex space domain systems.
  • 5 years experience in simulation and analysis of satellite orbital maneuvers, attitude maneuvers, satellite operations and/or satellite design
  • 3 years working software programming proficiency using  Python and/or Java.


Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • A M.S. or Ph.D. in Aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of Engineering direct experience working on SDA or Space Situational Awareness (SSA) projects
  • Strong mathematical background in probability and statistics, linear algebra, differential equations, numerical methods, estimation methods and astrodynamics.
  • Experience with typical satellite tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs)
  • Working proficiency astrodynamics libraries such as Orekit, Skyfield, etc.
  • Experience formulating and writing proposals supporting new project development activities
  • Familiarity with Agile software development processes and tools (to include JIRA and Gitlab)
  • Ability to work at a customer facility in a multi-contractor team environment. NOTE: Due to security and other customer requirements, remote work potential is very limited.
  • Current, active US Department of Defense Security Clearance
