Acara Solutions has been providing aerospace firms nationally with our staffing services for over 60 years. Our national/international aerospace client, that has been around for many decades, has a plant in Auburn, CA (Sacramento region) and they have an opening for an Accounting Manager. This is a salaried direct employee opening with a salary range of $110K - $135K plus an approximate 10% bonus.

This aerospace machining and manufacturing plant with close to 100 employees has a retiring accounting manager that will be transitioning later this year. There are no direct reports currently and no others in the accounting/finance department besides the controller and an AP/AR professional, but that may change with expected growth. The position reports to the Controller. The position will be involved with the finance side and accounting, including cost accounting.

This is a hybrid role allowing 2 days per week from home after an intro period.  
 
  • Oversee daily finance activity for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and/or General Accounting as assigned, to ensure accuracy and timeliness of processing.
  •  Assist in preparing financial records and reports.
  • Act as the Functional owner for Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)
  • Coordinate monthly financial closings and assist with spending variance analysis and verification.
  • Ensure timely completion of required financial statements and schedules.
  • Manage monthly general ledger account reconciliation process including review and sign-off.
  • Assist in coordination and preparation of annual Plan, Tax Package and Year-End reports.
  • Assist in analyzing spending variances during the monthly close; Determine accuracy and corrections or adjustments that may be needed.
  • Supervise direct reports as assigned.
  • Assist in B & O tax, property tax and sales tax minimization strategies including working with qualified consultants.
  • Maintain daily sales report including month-end cost of sales reconciliation.
  • Work closely with internal and external auditors to explain accounting procedures and to prepare financial data to facilitate annual audits.
  • Assist in devising optimum data management systems for the maintenance of accounting records and for providing management financial information.
  • Support the development of financial plans, forecasts and reporting of results for manufacturing costs, inventory, operating budgets and capital as assigned.
  • Coordinate annual plan preparation including preparing Excel cost center worksheets.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate policies, Risk Control Matrix (RCM's) and procedures for GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
  • Conduct monthly performance reviews and quarterly forecast reviews to ensure performance stays on track.
  • Special financial analysis, as required.
  • Cross-train on critical closing functions such as Cost Accounting
  • Prepare or assist in preparing various customer, supplier and government surveys.

 
Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or similar 
Min 5 years in General Accounting with at least a couple of those years within a manufacturing environment
Min 5 years with MS Office Suite - including strong Excel skills

This is an ITAR facility - U.S. Persons Required (Green Card Ok) 

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
Aerospace/Defense experience highly preferred
Standard cost accounting
Sox and publicly traded accounting exp
Experience in standard cost accounting, manufacturing information systems, personal property tax and sales and use tax law and Payroll. 
Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) 
Experience with payroll, treasury functions, Federal Tax law and Government accounting regulations
