Description

Acara Solutions has been providing staffing industry services to aerospace and advanced manufacturing firms throughout the country for 65 years. Our national/international aerospace client in Gainesville, TX has a direct salaried opening for a Commodity Management Director. 

Responsible for the leadership, control, coordination, and maintenance of the Business Unit's Commodity Management function and all processes related to the purchase of both direct and indirect materials. Provide the required oversight to ensure all short term and long-term supply chain needs are met.
 
  1. Identify, establish, negotiate, and maintain agreements with a targeted supply base to support company businesses with products or services, purchased directly or indirectly, for the manufacture or assembly of products sold to our customers ensuring that all customer flow down requirements are included.
  1. Create, initiate, and analyze all Requests for Information (RFI), Request for Quote (RFQ), Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Long Term Agreements (LTA), Pricing or Service Agreements, and other strategic procurement initiatives with suppliers or commodities shared across division and other company entities that meet the commodity and supply base rationalization strategy along with company and corporate cost objectives.
  2. Identify and establish a supply base that can support engineering prototype and development work on all new programs. 
  3. Identify and establish a supply base that can support the short lead time requirements of the Aftermarket segment 
  4. Analyze commodities and markets for trends in pricing and supply to make recommendations and engage in actions that will protect company and improve the supply position without any adverse financial impact.
  5. Develop commodity pricing reduction goals and strategies that are in line with company and corporate targets, product margins, and sales strategies.
  1. Assist in the assignment of supplier status based upon the Company Status Pyramid and transition of work to preferred suppliers. 
  1. Work with the Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) function to prevent or resolve quality issues that could impact business growth, disrupt supply chain, and drive supplier development between business units (Gainesville and Chihuahua)
  2. Participate in supplier sourcing reviews for new and existing programs together with related sub functions and assist in the development of criteria for RFI/RFQ packages to ensure that all commercial elements are covered and contained.
  3. Review monthly supplier performance metrics and work with the Supplier Performance Management (SPM) & SQE sub functions on a strategy and actions for any supplier not meeting the supplier performance criteria for company.
  1. Ensure systems and processes are in place to allow for the timely procurement of materials to support the efficient flow t of materials through the production process.
  2. Develop systems of Supplier assessment to evaluate, compliance process control and product readiness.
  3. Institute and continue Lean Procurement Processes, Kanban, Min-Max, VMI improvement initiatives (based on PFEP and ABC inventory classifications) across the company business.
  4. Develop/Maintain metrics to evaluate Procurement Processes.
  5. Consistently seek to reduce cost and improve efficiency throughout the Supply Chain 
  6. Commitment to Continuous Improvement mindset to constantly evaluate and seek improvements in Supply Chain efficiencies in an ever-changing environment.
 
Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related field 
Min 8 years of commodity / purchasing / supply chain management experience within a multifaceted aerospace organization
Min 5 years of experience and training in Lean, Six Sigma and CI (a Six Sigma belt preferred) 
Min 5 years of experience leading/managing supply chain employees
National and international travel expected up to 20% of the time
