Acara Solutions is looking for a Commodity Specialist to work with our partner located in Tualatin, OR who specializes in semiconductor manufacturing

Here is what you will get:
Pay Rate: $37-$45/hr
Location: Onsite
Duration: 6 month contract with possible extension
Hours: Flexible but may need to work early mornings/late nights as we are a global organization and do business in Asia/Europe

Here is what you will do: 

As a Commodity Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the efficient and effective management of our supply chain operations. You will work closely with various teams to help streamline processes, ensure timely delivery of materials, and contribute to cost-saving initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for supply chain management to develop foundational skills in a dynamic, real-world environment.

Responsibilities

Supplier Management: 

  • Assist in managing relationships with key suppliers to ensure continuity of supply and resolve issues. 
  • Support the development and implementation of sourcing strategies for assigned commodities. 
  • Monitor supplier performance through scorecards, audits, and improvement plans. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate forecasts and address supply chain challenges. 
  • Develop cost analysis models. 
  • Identify levels of value add completed at suppliers and rationalize transformation costs. 
  • Assess and determine costed bills of materials.
  • Categorize the commodity and break it down into sub-categories for better spend allocation and decision analysis. 
  • Review current allocation and recommend improvements to yield cost and lead time reductions. 
  • Analyze lead times and alternative parts. 
  • Prepare a Long Term Stocking Agreement and establish a framework for regular updates to liability, driving adoption of alternative components. 
  • Manage end-of-life and alternative sourcing initiatives. 
  • Provide escalation support and resolve constraints on critical deliveries. 

New Product Introduction (NPI): 

  • Work with the NPI team to ensure that materials for new products are purchased and delivered on time. 
  • Coordinate RFQ packages and track purchase orders to ensure timely execution. 
  • Analyze engineering change orders (ECOs) and assess their impact on the supply chain. 
 
Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with data and identify trends. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively across different functions. 
  • Familiarity with ERP and PLM systems is a plus; Oracle and Agile preferred. 
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
