Acara Solutions is seeking a Sr. Systems Administrator to join our client located in Herndon VA
Position Overview:
Enhance and modernize our Identity & Access Management (IAM) architecture, ensuring compliance with NIST 800-171 and evolving security standards. This contract role requires a technical leader with expertise in IAM, Windows & Linux identity services, security frameworks, automation, and hardening.

Key Responsibilities:
- IAM System Modernization: Assess, upgrade, and optimize IAM systems, refining architecture and implementing secure, scalable solutions across on-prem and cloud environments.
- Operational Maintenance & Support: Manage day-to-day support, upgrades, and maintenance of operating systems, workstations, and servers.
- Compliance & Security: Ensure compliance with IT security policies, conduct audits, and implement new IAM policies and security controls.
- Automation & Optimization: Drive automation and system performance tuning to achieve optimal performance and efficiency.
- Disaster Recovery & Data Integrity: Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with a skilled team and key stakeholders to develop and implement secure IAM strategies and solutions.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Resolve complex IAM issues and make decisions on the best security and identity management solutions.
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of IAM frameworks and compliance standards, particularly NIST 800-171.
- Experience in system automation, security controls, and architecture optimization.
- Expertise in managing on-prem and cloud-based IAM environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
